The number of infected with Covid-19 in Flamengo increased on Wednesday night as manager Domènec Torrent was diagnosed with coronavirus.

Club president Rodolfo Landim has also been confirmed with a positive case.

The 58-year-old Spaniard received his results at his residence. His assistants Jordi Guerrero, Jordi Gris, and Julian Jimenez tested negative.

Defenders Matheus Thuler and Rodrigo Caio, defensive midfielder João Gomes – one of the youngsters brought up to play against Barcelona de Guayaquil -, goalkeeper Gabriel Batista and the club’s vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, were also confirmed as infected on Wednesday.

According to GloboEsporte.com, two other members of the technical committee tested positive, bringing the total number of positives to 17. Flamengo has not yet commented on the new cases.

It’s now believed that Flamengo will attempt to have Sunday’s match against Palmeiras postponed, though it’s not expected that the CBF will grant them their wish.
