During their Copa Libertadores round-of-16 clash against Racing Club on Tuesday, Flamengo received not one but two red cards.
In the 82-minute, the club went down to 10-men after Matheus Thuler was sent off for a strong tackle on Lisandro López.
In protest, Natan (sitting on the bench) spoke out about the decision and was also shown red for the outburst.
The 19-year-old substitute took to Twitter to share his views on the decision and issue an apology to fans.
“I would like to position myself, making it clear to everyone, that I never cursed the judge. Anyone who knows me knows that I would never do that or anything,” read Natan’s tweet.
“Unfortunately I was chosen at random to receive the red, which left me out of the next match.”
“I apologise to everyone, even without understanding everything that has happened so far. I’m sad about the card, but keep going, keep going and working.”
According to a report by Globoesporte, both players have been denounced by Conmebol and Natan could “be suspended for at least two matches or for a period of one month.”
