“We will talk and hear what the player has to say, but it is unacceptable for him to report something to the Medical Department that takes him out of a game, in good faith, and it not be true.”

The 33-year-old reportedly told the club’s medical department he was suffering from Covid-19 symptoms but later posted pictures of himself at a nightclub.

“Tuesday, the player will be duly warned, fined and will have to clarify the reports passed on to the Medical Department,” read a statement from the club.

Flamengo went on to draw in their game against Resende on Sunday with manager Paulo Sousa questioning his squad’s ‘mindset’.
