As expected, new Flamengo centre-back Gustavo Henrique will be available for selection and likely start on Sunday when Flamengo face Athletico Paranaense in the first Supercopa do Brasil in nearly 30 years.
Gustavo Henrique still had one game remaining on a suspension he picked up while a member of Santos.
Flamengo successfully appealed the suspension by agreeing to donate R$25,000 (nearly $6,000) worth of wheelchairs to the Brazilian Beneficent Association of Rehabilitation.
Flamengo was able to convert the suspension into a donation due to article 171, paragraph 1 of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code, which allows a team to request a conversion since the competition that the athlete was punished in has since ended.
Gustavo Henrique was sent off by Santos in a match against Avaí during the 2019 Brasileirão campaign.
After fulfilling his automatic one-game suspension, he was ordered to serve a second one-match ban for the same infraction.
However, the player continued to play until the end of the season as Santos had appealed his sentence.
