It appears Flamengo have once again hit hot form just one week before the resumption of the 2020 Copa Libertadores group stage.
Flamengo became the first Brasileirão side to win four games in a row on Wednesday, defeating rivals Fluminense 2-1 in relatively comfortable fashion at the Maracanã.
Filipe Luís needed just eight minutes to slam home a rebounded chance while Gabigol put most doubts to rest by doubling their advantage just after the half-hour mark.
Fluminense would ruin third-string goalkeeper Gabriel Batista’s opportunity to earn his first Brasileirão clean sheet with a 92nd-minute goal from Digão.
Flamengo are now in second place on 17 points through nine games, level with leaders Internacional (eight games) and São Paulo (nine games) after they drew RB Bragantino tonight.
Fluminense missed their opportunity to draw level with Flamengo and are now in ninth place on 11 points.
Flamengo will now get ready to travel to Ceará on Sunday, while Fluminense will hope to rebound against Corinthians this weekend.
