The Copa Libertadores round-of-16 draw was anything but kind to Flamengo as they were drawn with Argentine giants Racing Club.
Despite earning an impressive 15 points in Group F, they were still ousted by Uruguayan side Nacional, who topped the group based on goal difference.
The 2018-19 Superliga Argentina champions were easily the best team in Pot 2 and will undoubtedly provide Flamengo with their biggest challenge of the season thus far.
In addition, their path to the Copa Libertadores was also defined, with the winner of Flamengo-Racing to take on the winner of Boca Juniors and Internacional in the quarter-finals.
Of the seven Brazilian clubs who participated in the Copa Libertadores group stage, only São Paulo failed to qualify.
