Flamengo look set to miss out on Arturo Vidal after Argentine giants Boca Juniors reportedly lodged a formal bid for him.
The 35-year-old midfielder is one of the highest earners at Inter, and it has been known for some time the Serie A side are keen to get him off their wage bill.
TyC Sports in Argentina have reported that Boca have made an offer to Vidal that would run until December 2023, with an option to extend by a further 18 months.
That makes it a deal that would potentially last three years, and could be the one that sees the Chile international into retirement.
It would also almost certainly put the kibosh on Vidal ever fulfilling his long-held ambition to play with Flamengo.
“I’d love to feel that energy. Playing for Flamengo at the Maracanã would be a dream,” the player said back in 2018.
It appears that La Bombonera could be his new home instead.
