Flamengo have forwarded a renewal of the licensing agreement with Konami, maker of the popular game Pro Evolution Soccer, to the club’s Deliberative Council.

The contract is valued at $1.2m (R$6.5m) and will run until June 2023. The contract guarantees PES have exclusive video game rights to the players – meaning Flamengo will continue to be excluded from the EA Sports FIFA video game franchise.

Flamengo and Konami have been partners since 2015. In addition to advertising space, the club will also stamp the brand of the producer on the back of their training uniform.

Flamengo’s Deliberative Council will vote on the contract virtually. The deadline is until this Saturday, August 15th.

Meanwhile, despite four positive coronavirus tests from the Atlético Goianiense players earlier in the week, Flamengo’s match will still take place as scheduled tonight.

These four unnamed players, however, have been ruled that they are unable to infect other people and have been cleared to play.
