Willian Arão, who is in Paulo Sousa’s plans this season, caught the attention of Al-Taawoun, who are doing all they can to escape relegation in Saudi Arabia.
According to sources from both Saudi Arabia and Brazil, Flamengo rejected a €5m offer for the player, who is still under contract until the end of 2023.
Arão has been an integral part of Flamengo’s squad since his arrival in January 2016, appearing an incredible 343 times in which he has only suffered 68 defeats.
Arão was named to the 2021 South American Team of the Year.
In other news, 22-year-old Flamengo striker Bill has been sold to Ukrainian side Dnipro for €400,000 after joining the club on loan in February.
In 11 substitute appearances league appearances and a pair of cup starts this season, Bill has contributed a goal and two assists in 344 total minutes.
