Flamengo have reportedly turned down an offer from Mexican side Cruz Azul for defender Léo Pereira.
Pereira arrived from Athletico Paranaense at the start of 2020 and much was expected of the 25-year-old.
Fast forward two years and things haven’t worked out that way, with the former Brazil U-20 international falling to establish himself as a regular in the side.
Despite this, new manager Paulo Sousa will be reluctant to let him leave.
According to O Dia, the Rubro-Negro will not entertain any offers for Periera, who is under contract until December 2024.
He is currently one of only three senior centre-backs available to them – alongside David Luiz and Gustavo Henrique – as Rodrigo Caio, who was recently hospitalised due to a skin infection, continues his recovery.
Although Flamengo are said to be open to some activity in the transfer market, they expect a new defender to arrive before they let any of their current flock leave the club.
