Benfica are just two rounds away from qualifying for the Champions League group stage but must get by both PAOK and Krasnodar in order to do so.

If they are successful, the Portuguese giants stand to make roughly €40m combined in prize money and television earnings.

With so much on the line, it’s no surprise that the club are willing to fork out a massive sum to fortify their squad ahead of their massive clashes.

However, manager Jorge Jesus will not reunite with any of his Flamengo players just yet. According to sources out of Portugal, the Rubro-Negro have rejected a €30m combined offer for both Bruno Henrique and Gerson earlier in the week.

In fact, the Flamengo board thought the proposal was so low that they reportedly refused to even acknowledge the bid.

Though Flamengo now have Thiago Maia, Gerson will not leave cheap as he is heavily sought-after by many big clubs around Europe and has a €30m release clause.

Bruno Henrique is also considered one of the key pieces to the Flamengo squad and was runner-up to team-mate Gabigol in the 2019 South American Player of the Year award vote, which should make it difficult for any club to poach the forward this summer.

It’s expected that Benfica will submit another offer in the coming week.
