Flamengo could lose one of their academy’s crown jewels as European clubs continue to heavily scout their youth categories.
According to journalist Venê Casagrande, second-division Spanish side Real Valladolid are keen to bring in 18-year-old João Pedro.
João Pedro recently signed a professional contract, however, his initial pro deal is set to expire in July, so Flamengo will either have to re-sign the player or risk losing him for free this summer.
The player will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement beginning in February so Valladolid are attempting to form a partnership with Flamengo, offering to take him on but allow the Rubro-Negro to retain 50% of his economic rights.
The tendency would be for Ronaldo Fenômeno’s side to initially add João Pedro to the Valladolid ‘B’ side.
