The moment of truth has arrived for Flamengo and Rogério Ceni as the rubro-negro have named their starting XI for their most important match of the season: their second-leg Copa Libertadores round-of-16 clash against Argentina’s Racing Club.
The two sides drew 1-1 in Argentina last week, meaning Flamengo currently lead by way of away goals. Should the teams play out to another 1-1 draw, the match will go straight to penalties.
Though Gabigol was not even included in the side as he continues to battle muscular issues, Rodrigo Caio has returned to play his first match since Flamengo’s 2-1 win over Barcelona (ECU) back on 23 September.
Rodrigo Caio will feature next to Gustavo Henrique tonight.
Vitniho will take Gabigol’s place up top next to Bruno Henrique while the familiar duo of Éverton Ribeiro and Puskas Award nominee Giorgian De Arrascaeta occupy the wings.
Pedro, who has been out injured since the November FIFA international break, has returned to the bench.
