Through an official post on Twitter, the Pernambuco club announced that the transaction has been completed after negotiating for the past few days.
Thus, the natural striker from Recife becomes the first rubro-negro reinforcement for next season.
Thiago scored five goals in the Pernambuco club’s Serie C title campaign and eight goals overall in 39 games.
Though Náutico confirmed that this was the largest transfer in the history of the club, they did not disclose the amount due to a confidentiality clause.
Reports on Wednesday stated that Náutico were negotiating for around R$13.5m (€3m) given they would hold onto 30% of the player’s economic rights.
However, the actual amount may be higher as Náutico confirmed they will receive 18% of the player’s fee the next time he is sold.
Náutico’s previous record transfer came back in 2013 when they sold Douglas Santos to Granada for R$4.5m (€1m).
