Flamengo eased to victory over minnows Nova Iguaçu in the Campeonato Carioca on Sunday.

The Rubro-Negro got off to the perfect start at the Raulino de Oliveira when Gustavo Henrique powered home a header off a cross from Giorgian de Arrascaeta.

De Arrascaeta doubled the Mengão’s advantage shortly before the break when he curled a beautiful free-kick into the top corner.

Gabriel Barbosa got in on the scoring act in the second half when he punished Nova Iguaçu hand ball by converting from the spot. The victory was then rounded off by late goals from substitutes Pedro and Diego.

Flamengo move up to second in the Carioca table, and will be in action again on Wednesday when they face Madureira in the same competition.
