Among Flamengo’s loanees is right-back João Lucas, who has easily been one of the best wing-backs in the entire Brasileirão with newly-promoted Cuiabá.

The 23-year-old has helped Cuiabá achieve an impressive 12th-place showing so far this season by leading the league in five different categories.

João Lucas is first in Brazil’s top flight in ball retrievals (141), tackles (79), interceptions (43), defensive actions (174), and duels won (154).

With the player only under contract with Flamengo until summer 2022, re-signing the player should be a massive priority for the Rubro-Negro after the season.

Otherwise, they could lose a player of potentially vital importance for free or at a very reduced price.
