The future of River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has been up in the air for some time now and we may finally know his next destination this Thursday.
According to the Argentinian media, Gallardo is set to make a ‘major announcement’ on the ninth, which is the anniversary day of their Copa Libertadores title against Boca Juniors.
The announcement will take place at the Monumental, with more than 50,000-70,000 people expected to attend the celebration. The coach, who has spent seven years at River, will make his first public statements since rumours of a possible departure began.
On the other hand, nobody in the Argentinian media knows what Gallardo will discuss, with Olé claiming they do not believe that the coach will take advantage of the moment.
The local media consider his next destination ‘the most difficult decision of his life’, with Flamengo and Uruguay being his two most-likely potential landing spots.
Of course, should Gallardo announce that he will renew his River contract, the fans will certainly party twice on Thursday.
