Despite the financial crisis, Flamengo continues their active search for players who can quickly improve themselves at the club.
In addition to strengthening the first-team, their strategy has always been to invest in youngsters that can be bought cheap and eventually sold to a European club at a very healthy profit.
On Monday, Flamengo finally revealed their newest jewel: Paraguayan defensive midfielder Fabrizio Peralta.
The 18-year-old has joined on loan from Paraguayan giants Cerro Porteño until December, though the 2019 Copa Libertadores have an option-to-buy that they are hoping will be worth in in nine months time.
“My first days were sensational. It’s a child’s dream, always watching on TV and watching Flamengo play,” he told FLA TV.
“I said that one day maybe I could be there, and today, in the blink of an eye, I’m here, stepping on Brazilian soil and wearing the uniform.”
18-year-old Argentine midfielder Facundo Farias, currently at Colón, has been linked to Flamengo in recent days. The club has refused to comment on the rumours.
