It was a tense affair between these two sides as Flamengo and Ceará played tug of war during the opening half.

There were a handful of chances with the hosts leading the tally five to four but the clubs only had one shot on target each.

Fortunately for the visitors, theirs went into the net as a counter-attack caught Flamengo off guard and Jô’s slow roller beat goalkeeper Aderbar Santos on the stroke of half-time.

Coming out into the second half the hosts needed to take things up a notch if they wanted to keep their unbeaten run alive.

They drove their shot tally up to 15 and dominated 60% of the ball which led to Gabriel Barbosa stabbing the ball home following a corner less than 10 minutes after the restart.

Then a little bit of luck would fall Flamengo’s way when Ceará’s goalscorer was sent off with roughly half an hour to go after appearing to argue with a decision from the referee.

But deep into stoppage time, the hosts would also end with 10 men after Barbosa was sent off as well.

Eventually, time ran out and Flamengo couldn’t find a way to win and drop key points.

The result means Flamengo are now nine games unbeaten in the league and sit second while Ceará are 14th.
