Flamengo moved up to second in the Brasileirão thanks to two second-half goals at Vasco de Gama.
The hosts took an early lead when Talles Magno struck in the ninth minute, finishing from close range after an incisive pass from Cayo Tenório.
However, the Rubro-Negro were able to reverse the tide when Leó Pereira equalised just three minutes after the restart.
Diego clipped in a lovely free-kick from the right flank, allowing the centre-back to rise highest and head home.
And the Mengão wrapped up the three points 20 minutes from time when Bruno Henrique showed tremendous skill and composure to latch on to a ball over the top before applying an excellent finish to beat stranded Vasco goalkeeper Fernando Miguel.
Flamengo, who had star striker Gabriel Batista back from injury as an unused substitute, will be in action again on Tuesday when they host Goiás at the Maracanã.
