Though Flamengo dropped points for the first time in the Copa Libertadores this season, they will keep their heads held high after coming from behind twice to draw Talleres 2-2.
Scorers: Arão (OG) 34′, Santos 57′; Arrascaeta 50′, Pedro 69′
Flamengo, who played in their third country in the last week, are now on 10 points through four games and will clinch a place in the round-of-16 should Sporting Cristal defeat Universidad Católica tonight.
The match did not get off to a good start as Flamengo’s defender headache continued. Pablo was forced off with a left thigh injury just 12 minutes into the match.
It went from bad to worse in the 34th minute as Flamengo scored another own goal, this time courtesy of Willian Arão as he unfortunately redirected the ball into his own net while attempting to cut off a cross.
After going into the dressing room 1-0 behind, it took less than five minutes for Flamengo to get the goal back, as Giorgian de Arrascaeta scorched his shot from outside the box past a helpless Guido Herrera.
The Argentines would strike back seven minutes later through Santos tapped home a lovely ball over the top from Matías Godoy.
However, Flamengo would have the last laugh as Pedro’s 69th-minute lovely chipped finish from Gabigol’s through ball ensured the spoils would be shared.
