Flamengo scraped through to a 1-0 victory over Boavista on matchday six in the Taça Guanabara on Wednesday.
It’s a sixth straight game without a loss for the Rio side, who currently sit top of the Carioca table after a red-hot start.
A goal from Pedro with just shy of 20 minutes remaining in the match was all that Flamengo needed to secure maximum points and take a strangle-hold on the Carioca standings.
Next up for the Scarlet-Black is a road showdown with Volta Redonda, whose three wins from five have them sitting nicely in 2nd place behind Flamengo.
Dorival will be hoping for another strong showing from his side once again to continue their push to claim the crown in Rio de Janeiro.
