Flamengo chief insists Pedro's Olympics row has been 'resolved' | OneFootball

Marco Braz has sought to draw a line under the controversy surrounding Pedro’s call-up to Brazil Olympic squad for the Tokyo Games.

The Rubro-Negro reacted angrily to the decision of the CBF to include the the 24-year-old striker as one of three overage players permitted for the predominantly U-23 tournament.

“Olympics is not a FIFA date. PSG denies Marquinhos and Neymar, CBF accepts. Palmeiras denies Weverton, CBF accepts,” tweeted Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Flamengo’s vice-president of external relations.

“Flamengo denies Pedro, CBF summons him. Who works for clubs? More of the same. Call now.”

Despite pressure to acquiesce to the federation’s request to release the player, Flamengo have remained firm in their stance that he will not be made available to travel to Japan.

And Braz, the club’s vice president of football, is keen to move on from the matter.

“This has some time since it was resolved, this was notified to the athlete before the call-up,” Braz told YouTube channel FlaZoeiro.

“I face it with the greatest tranquility, naturally, but it’s already been resolved,” he added.

Braz was speaking as the Mengão landed in Caxias do Sul for Sunday’s Brasileirão clash with Juventude.
