Arturo Vidal’s highly anticipated move to Flamengo draws ever closer after the midfielder officially parted ways with Inter Milan on Monday.
In an official statement, the Serie A side said: “FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement for the consensual termination of the contract of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal.
“The club thanks Arturo for his two years with the Nerazzurri, which culminated in him winning three trophies.”
It had been well known that Inter were looking to get the 35-year-old’s salary off the books, and the player is now free to agree a deal with a new club.
That club will all but certainly be Flamengo after Vidal flew to Rio de Janeiro last week, taking in the Rubro-Negro’s 7-1 Copa Libertadores mauling of Tolima while he was in town.
There has been no indication as to when Flamengo expect to officially confirm Vidal as their new midfielder, but the player will not be able to train or play with the Mengão until the international transfer window opens next Monday.
