It was virtually a foregone conclusion that Flamengo would move onto the Copa do Brasil semi-finals after their 4-0 first-leg win against Grêmio and they’ve made it official following Wednesday’s 2-0 win.
Pedro converted a 79th-minute penalty before completing his brace eight minutes later as the Rubro-Negro dominated the match despite an XI that featured many changes from Sunday’s win over Palmeiras.
Flamengo will take on Athletico Paranaense in the upcoming semi-finals, which will take place on October 20th and 27th.
Atlético Mineiro and Fortaleza will go toe-to-toe in the other half of the bracket.
Flamengo and Grêmio will face one another once again on Sunday before Wednesday’s all-important Copa Libertadores semi-final against Barcelona (ECU).
