Flamengo book spot in Copa do Brasil quater-finals

Flamengo booked their spot in the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals after a 1-0 win against ABC on Thursday (7-0 on aggregate).

After winning their first leg 6-0 at the Maracanã, Flamengo already had one foot set in the next round of the Copa do Brasil.

However, this time at the Arena das Dunas, Renato Gaúcho’s men struggled to add to their goal tally.

The visitors held majority possession in the first half and lunged forward in attack, outshooting the hosts 9-3.

However, despite their chances on target, nobody could find the back of the net.

In the second half, Flamengo continued to push forward but had to wait until late in the game for the breakthrough.

Eventually, a goal from 20-year-old João Gomes was enough to see Flamengo win both legs.
