Since Jorge Jesus left, Flamengo have suffered from defensive problems, even though they have been able to win titles due to their unbelievable options in attack.
Domènec Torrent Rogério Ceni have both been unable to control the problem, especially when they have suffered from absences due to injury.
When Rodrigo Caio and Diego Alves have been out, the managers have not been able to mount a safe defence, no matter how much they have experimented or how poor their opponents are.
Recently, legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon recently announced that he will leave Juventus at the end of the current season.
In addition, in an interview with TNT Sports Brasil, the Italian revealed that he has received an ‘invitation’ to play for Flamengo, but he is not thinking about playing in Brazil.
This generated many questions and Globo Esporte journalist Cahê Mota claims that after asking the Flamengo board, they responded: “We never looked (for Buffon), it must have been a joke.”
For now, Diego Alves continues between the sticks with the budding Hugo Souza backing him up.
