Flamengo announce Banco de Brasília (BRB) as new shirt sponsor

Banco de Brasília (BRB) has taken over for BS2 Bank as Flamengo’s shirt sponsor for the next three years effective 1 July.

In a stunning piece of business, the new digital bank will pay Flamengo R$35m (€6m/$6.8m) per year, which is more than double the previous amount paid by BS2 (R$15m).

The contract also includes several variables that are tied to the bank’s success, which could make the deal even more valuable.

BS2 quit their agreement six months early, calling it a ‘strategic decision’ that was no doubt tied to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Amazon, who filmed Flamengo’s Club World Cup journey in December, were in talks to become their new main sponsor but a deal could not be reached.
