FPL Gameweek 1 is nearly upon us – and in celebration of the new Premier League season, our expert Fantasy Football Hub team have picked their set and forget FPL teams for the 2022/23 season.
These teams are as described – no transfers or captain changes will be made once the season begins and it’s up to the starting 11 – and bench if required – to perform!
As a bit of fun, we will keep track of how the teams perform as the season progresses to see who will be crowned the Fantasy Football Hub Set and Forget Champions. 👑
Our panel, which yesterday revealed their Premier League and FPL predictions, consists of Hub editor Oli Poole and four of the Hub’s experts:
Rich has never finished outside the top 50k – but doing so with a team he never changes could be his greatest challenge yet.
My Team gives his set and forget draft an impressive 98%. He’s taken advantage of bargain basement picks Neco Williams (£4.0m) and Andreas Pereira (£4.5m) in the inevitable event they’ll be needed at some point in 2022/23.
Wes’s team has quite a ‘template’ feel – and perhaps that’s the sensible way to go, with big-at-the-back reigning supreme.
Fergi goes slightly bigger at the back than Rich, with Ben Chilwell (£6.0m) joining Edouard Mendy (£5.0m) as part of a Chelsea double up.
A budget bench is also the play here, allowing plenty of firepower across his starting 11.
It’s five at the back for the Hub’s main man, with defensive doubles from both Liverpool and Manchester City.
Jamie Vardy (£9.5m) leads the line alongside Gabriel Jesus (£8.0m), meaning Will will be without the comfort blanket of Kane or Erling Haaland (£11.5m) in 2022/23.
Daring to be a bit different, Oli is relying on the likes of Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Darwin Nunez (£9.0m) to overtake the above-mentioned fantasy legends in the season-long set and forget competition.
So in My Team terms, our five have received the following team ratings:
We’ll see how this pans out over the course of the season…
