When you think of Cristiano Ronaldo, you think superhuman.
During his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, Ronaldo won a host of trophies, including two LaLiga titles, and two Copa del Rey crowns.
He also helped Madrid to La Decima in the Champions League final with Atlético Madrid in 2014 and played a crucial role in Los Blancos winning the competition in each of the last three seasons.
And now, the 33-year-old will have the chance to smash more records after completing a shock €100m move to Juventus.
Clarence Seedorf is the only player to have won the Champions League with three different clubs: Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan (twice). Ronaldo has won it with Manchester United and Real Madrid (four times), but will now be eyeing that all important third. It’s worth noting that Juventus were last crowned champions of Europe 22 years ago, but with Mr. Champions League scoring for them and not against them this time, they’ll be among the favourites.
No player in history has ever previously acquired top-flight titles in England, Spain and Italy. Given Juventus have won seven consecutive Scudetti, Ronaldo will be licking his lips. Napoli came close last season but even with Juventus faltering at crucial moments they still fought their way to glory. Everyone must be sick of them.
Both John Charles (Leeds, Juventus) and Christian Vieri (Atlético Madrid, Inter) have topped the scoring charts in two of Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues. However, Ronaldo is poised to outdo them both. Having won the Premier League golden boot with United in 2007/08 and taken home the Pichichi on three occasions (2010/11, 2013/14, 2014/15), he could become the first man to top goalscoring charts in three major leagues.
Netting more than 36 goals would also see Ronaldo become Juventus’ record scorer across a single season in all competitions. Ferenc Herzer currently holds that title, having struck 35 times during the 1925-26 campaign. Considering that Ronaldo has bagged over 50 goals in each his last eight seasons – you’d back him to break this record as well.
Juventus are currently in possession of the man who has scored the most goals (36) across a single Serie A season, Gonzalo Higuaín. However, with Ronaldo set to replace the Argentine up front, it’s possible that he could also take the striker’s record. It won’t be easy though, as the 33-year-old has primarily been signed to win the Champions League, meaning he could be rested for Serie A games.
