After the passing of Pope Francis led to the moving of all Serie A fixtures out of the Saturday slot this weekend, we look at what to watch out for when the action resumes on Sunday and Monday.
Just a few short weeks ago, few would have been too surprised at the prospect of high-flying Inter ending the campaign with a treble - only for things to begin spiralling out of control at San Siro.
They have dropped five points from their last nine on offer in Serie A to allow Napoli to charge back into Scudetto contention, while their shock 3-0 defeat to rivals Milan in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final has already taken one prospective piece of silverware for the season off the table.
Now level with the Partenopei at the top and with a massive Champions League clash against Barcelona looming, the last thing they needed was the challenge of an in-form Roma in a bid to maintain their slender advantage.
Although this fixture hasn't been kind to the Giallorossi recently, they are unbeaten in their last 17 league games and could make it 18 in succession for the first time in 17 years - and potentially deal Inter another big blow.
Inter's aforementioned issues of late have allowed Antonio Conte and co. to go joint-top as he aims to deliver a surprise Scudetto in his first campaign in Campania but they must continue eking out victories.
Torino travel to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday night as they aim to end a run of 12 successive trips south without a victory.
Napoli will be buoyed by the fact that they face a fellow top 10 side and no club has won more points than the Partenopei this season against other teams in the upper half of the table - six more than any other club.
Scotland star Scott McTominay has chipped in with some big goals this season too and could become the only midfielder in the Aurelio De Laurentiis era to notch double figures in his debut campaign if he finds the net against the Granata.
It has been a somewhat cursed season for Milan striker Luka Jović until now.
Taking the No. 9 jersey was the beginning of his tale of woe, with Tammy Abraham's last minute signing further limiting his pathway to regular minutes before his exclusion from the Champions League squad was followed up by a groin injury which required surgery and sidelined him for months.
But a brace on Wednesday night propelled him to cult status in Milan's 3-0 win in the Derby della Madonnina and set up a Coppa Italia final next month against Bologna to provide hope that he could have a future at the club yet.
His deal at the club expires this summer and with coach Sergio Conceiçao admitting that the 'loss of a few pounds of weight' was a big help in his recent resurgence, keep a close eye on the 27-year-old this weekend and over the next month as he looks to show he can still play a part.
Jović is not the only player benefitting from a recent upturn in form after a difficult start to the campaign with the same applying to Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
After the Bianconeri paid over €50m to Atalanta to snap up the 27-year-old last summer, he didn't look like the same player who wowed in Bergamo in the early going.
But in Monza, he faces the club who he has contributed to the most goals against in Serie A with six (three goals, three assists) and on the back of scoring against Lecce, could net in two-in-a-row at hoe for just the second time.
His quality is clear. All that is missing is consistency.
Lazio forward Valentín Castellanos has netted 14 goals in Serie A since arriving two years from New York City FC with a big reputation.
And he has did half of the damage in that time by welcoming new boys to the top flight - with seven of those goals coming against newly-promoted sides (from just nine games too, while providing a further assist).
He has scored in all of his appearances against such sides this season with four in total and also netted in the reverse fixture against Parma too.
The Argentina international has a knack for popping up on these occasions and they desperately need that to be the case again on Monday as they aim to remain in contention for Champions League football.
