They are champions of Italy but that doesn’t mean improvements can’t be made at Juventus.

We look at five players who could make this scary side even better.

Matthijs de Ligt

This is the big one and Juventus know all too well what he can do after he helped knock them out of the Champions League.

Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci may still be solid but they aren’t getting any younger and Daniele Rugani hasn’t developed in the manner expected.

It will take another big fee and a good pitch to the youngster and his representatives but Turin does seem like an excellent fit for the Ajax captain.

Cristian Romero

Juventus need more than one centre-back this summer and the Genoa standout has been on their radar for some time.

This is a deal that looks likely to get done and with Andrea Barzagli leaving, there is a need to add long-term talent in the central defensive positions.

While it does appear likely that if he is signed he’ll be loaned straight back to Genoa, it is a move that benefits all three parties involved.

Paul Pogba

This may be a dream signing but it is the perfect way for Juventus to strengthen in midfield, as they hope to do.

For all his detractors in England, the Frenchman was sensational in Turin and the massive money Manchester United spent on him seemed justified at the time.

If they are willing to consider letting him return to his former club, the Bianconeri should pull out all the stops.

Adrien Rabiot

If they can’t pull off a deal for Pogba, and it would be understandable given the difficulty involved, then a fellow Frenchman could provide a much more low-cost alternative.

Juventus are masters of taking advantage of players running down their contracts – having done so with Aaron Ramsey, Andrea Pirlo, Dani Alves, Kingsley Coman and Emre Can in recent years.

Rabiot is another who would be available on a free after failing to agree an extension at PSG and could be an ideal fit with the Old Lady.

Federico Chiesa

There has been a lot of talk about Mauro Icardi and while he’s undoubtedly an exceptional player, any deal would bring too much baggage.

Given that Juve also have turnover in the dugout this summer, an Icardi move isn’t worth it and they’d be better served swooping for one of Italian football’s brightest talents instead.

Chiesa still has a long way to go but all of the tools are there and would be sharpened to perfection at Juventus learning from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.
