Five madridistas called up for the Spain U19s for the European Championships in Malta

Manuel Ángel, Edgar, Palacios, David Jiménez and Gonzalo have all been named in the Spain U19s squad for the European Championships being played in Malta from 3-16 July. The team coached by José Lana, who qualified after finishing top of Group 3 in the Elite Round, got the better of Iceland in their first Group Stage game. Greece and Norway will be their next opposition.

Group Stage: Iceland -Spain (1-2) Spain got their tournament off to a winning start against Iceland at the Centenary Stadium. Gonzalo, Palacios and Manuel Ángel were all named in the starting lineup. The first played the full clash, the second was replaced on 83 minutes and the third with 92 on the clock. Edgar came off the bench in injury time, while David Jiménez was not involved.

Greece-Spain (Friday 7 July 6:00 pm) The second clash pits Spain against Greece at the Gozo Stadium.

Spain-Norway (Monday 10 July 9:00 pm) The Ta' Qali National Stadium will host the final Group Stage clash with Norway.
