Jizz Hornkamp continued his fine form as he grabbed his fourth and fifth goal in his last four games. The Heracles striker’s goals were crucial as the side ran out 3-2 winners over bottom of the table Vitesse. The win for the team from Almelo gives them some breathing space above those threatened by relegation. They remain in the scrap to avoid the drop, but have a four point lead over RKC Waalwijk in the relegation play-off spot.

In a heated game, it was the bottom side that took the lead first. On loan Brighton midfielder Kascper Kozlowski put the side ahead after 24 minutes, with midfielder Melle Meulensteen making it two just a few minutes later. Jordy Bruijn got Heracles back within touching distant instantly, and as half-time came the situation got worse for Vitesse. 32-year-old defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin was sent off, with the side facing the prospect of a second-half down to 10 men.

Hornkamp took advantage, grabbing his two goals in the second half to complete the comeback and give Heracles a vital three points. Vitesse, on the other hand, remain bottom on 12 points, The side have not won in the league since the reverse fixture in December, a run of six Eredivisie games.
