The 27-year-old German forward joined The Seagulls from VfL Wolfsburg on a two-year deal earlier today. Bremer is Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Melissa Phillips’ first signing of the summer transfer window.
The player arrives at the Sussex club having won lots of silverware with her former clubs. Her greatest career achievement to date was winning back-to-back UEFA Women’s Champions League titles with French giants Lyon. In her first Brighton & Hove Albion interview, Bremer said that she wants to use her top level experience to become a leader for her new club both on and off the pitch.
“I want to take the next step, be in a different role to what I’ve maybe been playing at clubs before,” Bremer said in an interview with My Albion TV. “I really want to bring that leadership to the team, I have that winning mentality.
“I hope to bring those qualities to the team and help the young players to develop. I think we have a talented group.
“Hopefully, I will score a lot of goals but I also want to be a leader on and off the pitch.”
While Brighton & Hove Albion endured a tough campaign in 2022/2023, the club maintain the long-term ambition of mixing it with the top four sides in the Barclays Women’s Super League in the future. Bremer said that The Seagulls’ ambition was a key factor in her joining the club.
She said “The club are very ambitious and I am very ambitious too. I like the professional surroundings here, everything is on a high level.
“I want to contribute to a better team performance and help the club in the WSL.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have been training at an £8.5 million purpose-built facility at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre since autumn 2021. Bremer says that the club are lucky to have such a world-class facility and they have to use it to their advantage to improve on-field performances.
“What we have here at Brighton is just amazing, it’s special,” the forward said. “The gym, the pitches, everything for the women is really professional.
“I’ve been to a few clubs and I know that it isn’t always like this, so we can be really happy and I hope we can use this to make our performances better.”
Brighton & Hove Albion are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as the club continue their transition under new head coach Phillips.
