Manchester United will play hosts to Liverpool at the Old Trafford on Sunday night hoping to pick up a win and proceed into the further stages of the F.A Cup. The Red Devils will head into the contest on the back of an impressive 2-1 win over Fulham whereas Sean Dyche’s men pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over the Reds to end their 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp will opt for the 4-3-3 formation with a number of tweaks from their last game as Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino look likely to make their way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to replace Allison in goal for the upcoming away encounter. The Irish international has managed to put up impressive performances whenever called upon, so he should be handed over a start if fully fit.

Joel Matip should retain his position alongside Fabinho as the right centre-back. The duo will be hoping to repeat more of the same on Sunday.

Having missed the match against Burnley, Jordan Henderson remains a concern ahead of the clash at Old Trafford.

“Hendo is not in the squad because he felt a little bit, we hope it’s nothing serious, but he couldn’t make it for tonight,” Klopp revealed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will continue to operate as the full-backs on right and left-flank respectively. The former has been struggling in both ends of the pitch lately; however, he’ll be hoping to turn things around this time.

Midfield

The trio of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Thiago Alcantara will start in midfield for the Reds with the latter expected to dictate the game from the centre of the park.

Having scored just one goal in the last five league matches, it’s quite evident that Jurgen Klopp’s side has been struggling to create meaningful chances, so the trio will be eager to put up a fine performance against the Red Devils.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on in the latter stages of the game if called upon.

Attack

Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah will take up the wide positions, functioning down the left-wing and right-wing respectively.

Roberto Firmino will spearhead Klopp’s attack against Manchester United. The Brazilian striker hasn’t been in his best form this season, often lacking the clinical touch in front of the goal, so he’ll be eager to impress on Sunday.
