The rescheduled Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter, set for February 6 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, will follow rules specifically applicable to games that were interrupted and postponed after already starting.

Unlike Milan’s October fixture at Bologna, which was called off before it could begin due to extreme weather conditions, Inter’s away match at Fiorentina in early December was suspended after 17 minutes of play when Viola midfielder Edoardo Bove suddenly collapsed on the field.

As a result, the two teams are now set to resume that match, with strict regulations in place for the occasion.

The game will resume from the moment the clock was stopped, specifically from the 17th minute with the score at 0-0.

Moreover, Lega Serie A rules forbid players who were suspended at the time of the match or had already been subbed off from taking part in the continuation of proceedings.

While Denzel Dumfries and Pietro Comuzzo have to serve a one-game ban after both picking up a yellow card in their last match, they’ll be able to be included in their sides’ line-ups for the rescheduled match, as they were not suspended when the game originally took place.

It also means their suspension will apply to the next Serie A fixture, which will see the Viola and the Nerazzurri face off again at the San Siro next Monday.

As per the new signings, the statute claims that the two teams can use footballers ‘who were already registered with the two clubs at the time of the interruption, regardless of whether they were included in the matchday squad on the day of the interruption’.

It means Fiorentina won’t be able to field Michael Folorunsho, Pablo Marì, Ched Ndour, Nicolò Fagioli and Nicolò Zaniolo, who joined the club during the January transfer window, while Simone Inzaghi will have to do without Nicola Zalewski.
