Davide Zappacosta was never a particularly popular players at Chelsea – he didn’t play much, and when he did play he didn’t impress much – but in Italy he’s built a solid reputation.

First at Torino, which lead Chelsea to buy him, and now back on loan at Roma and then Genoa, he’s done a lot better in Serie A than in the Premier League.

Perhaps it’s not surprising then that Sky Sports Italy are reporting Fiorentina’s interest in bringing him in. They claim that the Tuscan club and new manager Beppe Lachini have been impressed by the 29 year old since he came back to Serie A.

There’s also the suggestion that he could be used in the Achraf Hakimi deal, but it’s harder to imagine Inter being satisfied with Zappacosta as a replacement for one of the league’s outstanding stars in that position.

Still, he’s got to go somewhere – let’s see where he ends up by September.
