Fiorentina are refusing to give up in the race to sign Lazio forward Felipe Caicedo, with Viola president Rocco Commisso ready to continue talks with his Biancocelesti counterpart Claudio Lotito, according to a report from Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.

The report details how the 32-year-old Ecuadorian forward, who is contracted to the Roman club until 2022, has been heavily linked with a move away from Rome in this month’s transfer window, with Fiorentina, Juventus and Inter all keen to secure his signature.

Whilst the Viola did have the advantage of registering interest first, the competition from Italy’s two richest clubs means that Fiorentina will have to now fight more fiercely to sign the Ecuadorian striker.

Despite this, Commisso has no intention on giving up on his quest to sign Caicedo, and he is ready to call Lotito to discuss a lower price tag for the 32-year-old.

Coach Simone Inzaghi would like to keep the player until the end of the season, due to his important goal contributions.

Caicedo has scored six league goals in 14 appearances this season, one every 110 minutes.
