Fiorentina currently have no intention of activating their option to buy clause for Iceland international Albert Gudmundsson, but a permanent move to the Stadio Franchi is still not ruled out, Football Italia can reveal.
As things stand, Fiorentina have no intention of paying the €17m fee required to make Gudmundsson’s loan deal permanent.
La Viola paid a reported €8m to sign bring him to Tuscany on loan for the 2024-25 season, and have an option to buy for a further €17m plus bonuses, taking the entire cost of the operation up to a maximum of €28.5m.

Football Italia understands that Fiorentina intend to ask for a significant discount on their option to buy Gudmundsson from Genoa.
La Viola could potentially seek a discount of around €4rm-€5m, or could potentially look to renegotiate a new loan deal for the 2025-26 season with a new obligation to buy in place for the end of the campaign.
Genoa, meanwhile, are aware that there are several other teams in Serie A who could be interested in striking a deal for the 28-year-old, who netted eight goals in 33 appearances across all competitions last term.
