Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat in advanced talks with Atlético Madrid | OneFootball

Fiorentina midfielder and Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat (26) is in advanced talks with Atlético de Madrid, according to a report this morning from L’Équipe. Los Colchoneros are reportedly leading the race to sign the highly-rated defensive midfielder, who took the 2022 World Cup by storm with his all-action displays, as the Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the competition. Amrabat was previously linked with a move to Barcelona and several high-profile Premier League clubs. The 26-year-old is tied to Fiorentina on a contract which is set to expire in 2024.

L’Équipe understand that Fiorentina and Atlético Madrid still need to strike an agreement over the Moroccan’s transfer fee. The La Liga side are in the market for a defensive midfielder amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Geoffrey Kondogbia (30) and Saúl Ñíguez (28). The former Monaco man is being linked with a move back to Ligue 1 whilst the Spaniard is being monitored by PIF-funded Saudi outfit Al-Nassr.
