A Fiorentina fan has received a three-year ban from all stadiums in Italy and within the European Union following an assault on an Inter fan in Saturday’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

This according to Italian news service Adnkronos, via FCInterNews, who report that the sentence has officially been handed to the Viola fan following the incident that appeared late during the Nerazzurri’s 4-3 win on Saturday.

There were chaotic scenes in the aftermath of Inter’s Serie A victory in Tuscany on Saturday, with one Inter fan in particular having been the subject of some aggressive behaviour.

The fan in question had been in the home support section for some time, and after Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the match-winning goal during stoppage time, the frustration of some Fiorentina fans boiled over.

As the Nerazzurri supporter celebrated Mkhitaryan’s goal, one Fiorentina fan in particular is charged with having assaulted him.

For the incident, the Viola fan has been handed a three-year ban from all football stadiums two hours before, during, and two hours after all matches in Italy, or in the European Union.
