Heading into the clash, Fiorentina held a 2-0 lead on aggregate and again took the game to Cremonese, this time in front of home fans.
The hosts dominated the game’s flow, with Nicolás González leading the attack alongside Arthur Cabral, but scoring chances were scarce despite the club sending waves of players forward.
Cremonese were theoretically still alive due to the poor finishing and a comeback was still on the table at half-time.
The visitors then managed to ramp up the pressure after the break and caused a slight scare, but Charles Pickel’s header was saved by goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano.
During the final 20 minutes, Dodô tried to rally the hosts hoping to put the tie out of reach, but nobody wearing purple was on the same wavelength.
Unfortunately for Cremonese, registering only two shots wasn’t good enough in the end.
It means despite a 0-0 draw, Fiorentina booked a spot in the final thanks to their first-leg success and will face reigning holders Inter in their 11th final.
The last Fiorentina manager to lift the Coppa Italia trophy was Roberto Mancini in 2001.
