Stuttgart secured quite the deal on deadline day, securing the signature of highly-rated Nürnberg centre-back Finn Jeltsch.

Earning his first top-flight start against Hoffenheim, Jeltsch was rewarded with a start against champions-elect Bayern München.

“Since Finn joined us, he has consistently done well,” said Stuttgart board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth. “He brought a portion of playing experience from Nürnberg,” he added.

However, something else that the young defender brought with him was four yellow cards, just one away from receiving a one-match suspension.

This came in the 39th minute of Stuttgart's 3-1 defeat against the league leaders, meaning that Jeltsch will miss this weekend's clash against strugglers Holstein Kiel.

Regarding his replacement, fellow deadline-day arrival Luca Jaquez is unlikely to make his debut due to illness.

However, Sebastian Hoeneß was able to welcome Ameen Al-Dakhil to training this week, alongside forward El Bilal Toure.

Belgian defender Al-Dakhil has made just five appearances in the Bundesliga this campaign in what has been an injury-hit season since he arrived from Burnley in the summer. However, when deployed, Al-Dakhil has proven worthy of a potential starting place when fit.

Due to the departure of Anthony Rouault at the end of January, Dutchman Ramon Hendriks initially deputised for Al-Dakhil during the bedding-in period for Jeltsch. Admirable performances against Augsburg and Borussia Dortmund may mean that the 23-year-old is the one to start on Saturday.

However, for now, Hoeneß is left with a difficult decision ahead of the weekend. With his side winless in three Bundesliga matches, keen eyes will be placed on die Schwaben for match week 25, with VfB aiming to get their European charge back on track.
