Scotland will miss out on the UEFA Women’s EURO finals in England after losing to a stoppage-time goal at home to Finland.

It was a frustrating night for the hosts at Easter Road, with a positive result crucial after their 1-0 defeat in Portugal last week.

Following good play by Kim Little, Lisa Evans’ shot was deflected over the bar, Jen Beattie meeting the resulting corner with her head but denied by a superb stop from Tinja-Riikka Korpela.

Rachel Corsie snuffed out the danger as Ria Öling looked to profit from an error, before Little had a chance but Korpela made a diving stop.

Evans presented Martha Thomas with a free header early in the second half but the effort went wide, while Caroline Weir flashed a shot narrowly wide of the post.

Shelley Kerr’s side continued to be frustrated, Korpela preventing Jane Ross netting from close range and Evans also denied inside the six yard box.

Zoe Ness came off the bench and soon threatened when forcing a tip round the post, but the Scots were then hit on the break, with  Amanda Rantanen bundling the ball home from the rebound of Lee Alexander’s initial save.
