Filipe Luís reveals he will become a Flamengo coach after retiring | OneFootball

On Thursday, Filipe Luís revealed that one of the biggest reasons why he decided to return to Brazil and sign for Flamengo was the opportunity they offered him after he hangs up his boots.

The 34-year-old is under contract until 2021 and has been promised a coaching role with the club when he retires.

“When I started to speak to Flamengo, in the negotiations one of the things that convinced me was that they offered me precisely that, this post-career plan,” he told Coluna do Fla.

“They told me that, when I retired, they were very interested in giving me a chance. I said that I wanted to be a coach and they will give me the opportunity to work and to be able to start my new career here.

“That opportunity makes me very happy.”

The Copa Libertadores finalists will attempt to take their Brasileirão lead back up to 10 points tonight when they face Goiás.
