Filip Jorgensen put in a brilliant performance against Heidenheim and created some Chelsea history in the process.
The Blues ran out 2-0 winners in Germany on Thursday night thanks to goals from Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk.
The win means the Blues maintain their 100% record and have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with two games to spare.
Enzo Maresca once again made wholesale changes with Benoit Badiashile the only player to keep his place from the victory against Leicester.
That meant another opportunity for Jorgensen to show what he’s capable of, with a lot of pressure building on Robert Sanchez after a number of costly errors.
Jorgensen put in an impressive performance against Heidenheim.
The summer signing from Villarreal didn’t disappoint as he put in his best display since joining the club with the 22-year-old pulling off a series of impressive saves to keep the Blues in the game.
The Denmark U21 international also impressed with his distribution and was a calming presence between the sticks for Maresca’s men.
Peter Crouch believes it’s time for Jorgensen to be given an opportunity in the Premier League and the vast majority of Chelsea fans will be in agreement.
In fact Jorgensen created some Chelsea history with his performance in Germany and according to stats site Opta the 11 saves he made were the most by any Chelsea goalkeeper in any game in any competition in Opta’s database (dating back to 2003).

It remains to be seen how long Jorgensen has to wait for an opportunity in the Premier League, but it’s likely his next action will be against Astana on December 12th.
The shot stopper has certainly sent a timely reminder to Maresca of the ability he possesses, but right now it’s unclear what it would take for the Italian to make a switch between the sticks.
