AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has shared an exchange with Derby County on Twitter after winning the Serie A title.

A final-day victory against Sassuolo meant the Italian club clinched their first league title in more than a decade and 19th in total by finishing two points above local rivals Inter Milan.

Tomori has played a vital role in AC Milan’s success after leaving Chelsea to sign permanently for the club last summer, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the San Siro.

The central defender has featured 40 times for the club this term – the second busiest season of his career after 2018/19 when he made 55 appearances while on loan at Derby in the Championship.

It appears the 24-year-old has not forgotten about that spell as his exchange with the Rams on Twitter shows.

Tomori helped Frank Lampard take Derby to the edge of Premier League promotion in 2018/19 – barely missing a game as they reached the Championship play-off final but were beaten by Aston Villa.

Quiz: Can you name which club Derby County sold these 23 players to from the last decade?

The Verdict

Tomori remains a popular figure among the Pride Park faithful after what was a hugely impressive loan spell at Derby and Rams fans will love this latest exchange with the 24-year-old defender.

He’s been fantastic for AC Milan this term and may have Chelsea regretting their decision to let him leave.

But Derby supporters won’t be surprised by how well he’s played since making the move given his performances under Lampard in 2018/19.

It seems that his time at the East Midlands club, which proved his quality to many in English football, isn’t something he’s forgotten about.
