Fikayo Tomori has completed a loan move to AC Milan, ending a 12 month spell with little to no game time at Chelsea.

The central defender started brightly last season under Frank Lampard, forcing his way into the team through the Autumn.

But as results turned worse in the New Year and after Project Restart he found himself slipping down the pecking order, and since about this time last year he’s totally fallen off the map at Chelsea. A loan – or permanent – move has been on the cards for a while.

This is a risky team to pick – he needs to play, and Milan are doing so well in Serie A that they might be reluctant to break up their central defensive partnership. But if it works out it will be a gamble worth taking.

The best case scenario for everyone is Fikayo going and looking superb in Italy – and then getting a proper chance back at Chelsea. The Blues’ website makes no mention of a purchase option, but top Milan blog Sempre Milan says it’s set at £25m.

Let’s hope it’s a lot higher than that.
