Luis Figo is backing Juventus to win the Champions League this season with the help of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has scored 19 goals in 24 Serie A games since joining from Real Madrid in the summer, and the 34-year-old will come up against an old foe when the Bianconeri face Atlético Madrid on Wednesday evening.
And Figo is not surprised that his fellow countryman is still going strong well into his thirties.
“There are much more games now and of course you have to take care of yourself if you want to play until you’re 36 or 37,” said Figo in his role as a Laureus Ambassador in Monaco.
“In these days the people take care of themselves very well. My generation or before my generation you probably finish earlier but now you can play until 36 easily.”
Juve haven’t won the Champions League since 1996 but they have reached the final on five occasions during that time.
But with the addition of Ronaldo, Figo believes they now have what it takes to go all the way.
“I’m sure he can because he’s one of the best and he’s showing that in the domestic league they don’t have an opponent in Italy.
“I think they are one of the favourites (to win the Champions League).
“They play against Atlético Madrid next, it’s always very tough because they are always very intensive and of course they have excellent motivation as they could play the final back home. It will be a nice two games to watch.”
